Children's Marriage

Every marriage newspaper column is filled with either a son or a daughter masquerading in the guise of parents OR one of the children pasting her/his likes/dislikes, the "who am I?", qualifications and "who I want?" ....but who cares about the parents perspective?

I say this because in India at least children are beginning to choose their partners on their own steam. Good for Posterity! But consider the travails of parent son either side too! Now parents are relatively of two types- those with an awareness/conscious competence and those without. Being parents, at least, most would ( from parental concern's sake, at least) be of the conscious variety.

My question is simple- are children caring about parental approval to their choice or do they expect it to naturally happen? If they expect natural approval then there may be a few parents who may ask a fe relevant questions before the marriage of their children- like was the decision a normal one or one of desperation, for instance. This is a very natural parental concern. Knowing fully well their daughter or son would now begin a new chapter separately with another congenial person, parents curiosity may be most expected on this score. And yet, there atre children- 27 years of age and even above 9who have reached maturity levels) who may react to such queries as blasphemy.

Now my take is simple- do children owe nothing to parents in terms of intellectual satisfaction at least? Or have we created bovine beauties for the 21st century? "Cattle=class" is least of expectations of Mother Earth from her 21st century children. There are several value oriented issues to deal with for survival....but then again when it comes to self survival the intellect may prove faster and have a quick response time. But when it comes to parental 'welfare'issues- these are secondary matter and can always wait.

On hindsight, such has been the role-play of all parents ever since the Industrial Revolution altered human priorities...
